Sowders released following plea bargain

A Florence man arrested Memorial Day after drunkenly plowing his SUV into a tree while his 3-year-old daughter was in the vehicle walked out of jail Wednesday.Eric Lee Sowders, 29, pleaded guilty to felony DUI and admitted he broke the conditions of a deferred sentence for aggravated assault Wednesday before Ravalli County District Judge Jeffrey Langton as part of a plea bargain agreement.Sowders was originally arrested on a Saturday in May just before noon near the Lake Como campground.Court records said he had been drinking beer and rum with family members before getting into his vehicle with his daughter. Witnesses told sheriffs’ deputies that he almost drove off the road before the wreck.
